Washington State Lottery AI Mobile Site Created Topless Softcore Porn
The Washington Lottery recently developed a mobile site that used artificial intelligence to create images from user uploaded pictures, showing them on a dream vacation, and called it "Test Drive a Win." One test drive did not go as planned, however,. Megan, a 50-year-old mother from Tumwater, Washington, visited the new AI site and uploaded a picture of herself. The site allows users to throw a digital dart at a dartboard featuring dream vacations that you can pay for with money you win in the lottery. Users can either upload a headshot or take a picture with their phone to upload, depending on where the dart lands, and the site creates an image of the user in the vacation spot. Megan landed on a “swim with the sharks” dream vacation option. And it generated a picture of Megan on her dream vacation.
But the image of Megan was a topless nude. It showed Megan sitting on a bed, with a
bathing suit bottom but nothing on top. Her tits were out, and the background appears as if she is on the bed in an aquarium with fish swimming around her. The Washington’s Lottery logo is in the bottom right corner. Megan went on the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH to discuss her experience, saying “Our tax dollars are paying for that! I was completely shocked. It’s disturbing to say the least.” Megan feared the image could potentially get out and that it would happen to others. “I also think whoever was responsible for it should be fired,” she added.
As you would expect, within approximately three hours after an inquiry by the Jason Rantz Show, Washington’s Lottery pulled the site offline. They also made a statement. “We were made aware that a single user of the AI platform was purportedly provided an image that did not adhere to the built-in parameters set by the developers. Prior to launch, we agreed to a comprehensive set of rules to govern image creation, including that people in images be fully clothed. We have not seen the image that the AI provided to this user, but out of an abundance of caution we took the website down,” a spokesperson confirmed. "This campaign was launched more than a month ago and has had thousands of images created that all fall within the prescribed guidelines," the statement continued. "Regardless, one purported user is too many and as a result we have shut down the site."
