Turkey, Australia and New Zealand Top World List of Countries With Highest Average Sex Partners

The website WorldPopulationReview.com looked into the average number of sexual partners for countries around the world, with interesting results. According to the review, “Most individuals have multiple sexual partners over the course of their lifetimes, with surveys indicating a global average of nine sexual partners during a person's life. The average number of sexual partners can vary significantly from country to country, as cultural norms can have a significant impact on the number of people someone has sex with." The results, is says, were

determined after compiling “datasets from multiple third party sources.” And while Turkey’s population is more than 99% Muslim and is a country generally believed to have traditional views when it comes sex and relationships, it ranked number one on the list of countries, with an average 14.5 sexual partners. Scandinavian countries also ranked high on the list.

Turkey was followed in the top ten by Australia (13.3), New Zealand (13.2), Iceland (13.0), South Africa (12.5), Finland (12.4), Norway (12.1), Italy (11.8), Sweden (11.8) and Switzerland (11.1). The United States ranked 13, with an average of 10.7 sexual partners. But the website said: "the average number of sexual partners a person in the US has can vary widely from state to state, based upon local cultures and religious preferences in particular. For example, residents of Louisiana report an average of 15.7 sexual partners. By comparison, the people of Utah, 62% of whom belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, report an average of 2.6 sexual partners." In the bottom were Hong Kong (3.7), Vietnam (3.2), China (3.1), and India (3.0). The website said these lower numbers are "typically due to societal or cultural preferences to abstain from premarital sex."
